A newly recruited cohort of SOFAR fellows has officially joined the Digital Global Health Academy, an innovative programme designed to empower PhD fellows and early career researchers with the essential skills needed to lead impactful, ethical, and equitable global health research.

The Academy provides a unique learning environment through monthly training sessions, each focusing on a crucial skill for developing the next generation of global health leaders.

In February 2025, the fellows participated in a highly engaging session on “How to Build Your Network”, led by Professor Katharina Kranzer from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. This session delved into effective communication strategies, helping fellows understand how to cultivate constructive professional relationships and expand their networks.

The March's session on “Intellectual Property and Knowledge Translation”, led by Dr. Mario Moustras of Mazamo Ltd and Warrick Harniess from Scandinavia Stories, offered insights into safeguarding research through intellectual property and exploring ways to maximize the impact of global health research through knowledge translation.

The Digital Global Health Academy continues to offer cutting-edge training, preparing fellows to navigate the complexities of global health challenges and drive meaningful, real-world change.

About the Digital Global Health Academy

Launched to bridge critical skills gaps in global health, the Digital Global Health Academy is a structured programme aimed at PhD fellows and early career researchers. By offering monthly sessions led by global health experts, the Academy ensures participants develop the practical tools and knowledge necessary to address emerging health challenges and improve healthcare outcomes worldwide.

With an emphasis on ethics, innovation, and equitable research practices, the Academy fosters a collaborative community of researchers dedicated to making a lasting impact on global health. The programme’s long-term vision is to build a new generation of health leaders who will transform research into sustainable, real-world solutions.
